Best Places to Live in RWC within walking distance to a cup of coffee (and other stuff)
Almost nothing beats being able to walk out your front door to grab a cup of coffee in the morning. It's also nice to be within walking distance of restaurants, the theater, nightlife, and the gym. An added bonus: being within a mile of places like Whole Foods can bump your home value by as much as 10%.
We have always been fans of walking to get a cup of joe on the weekend, or to grab dinner on a nice summer evening. It gives us time to connect (and get a little exercise!) And once we had a baby, being able to walk to the park or out for lunch became even more important. It's so nice not to hassle with loading up the car, getting your kiddo in the car seat, and looking for parking.
So if you're anything like us and you like to walk to stuff, here are some areas of Redwood City that might be worth checking out.
High School Acres
From almost anywhere in High School Acres east of Myrtle St. it's less than a 20 minute minute walk to get downtown. And as you may know, Redwood City has a bunch of coffee shops including Bliss Coffee, Backyard, Kristi Marie's, and Phil'z. There are also a bunch of options for eating out as well as the movie theater for entertainment.
Like High School Acres, much of Lenolt is super close to downtown Redwood City. The ABC streets are a 15-20 minute walk and south of Whipple is even closer. The north side is also fairly close to downtown San Carlos, giving you the best of both worlds.
Northeast Cordilleras Heights
The intersection of Oak Knoll and Canyon has a great coffee shop, the Canyon Inn, Sancho's, and numerous other spots. The old market is currently being divided into two new restaurants and a small market, so there is some good stuff in store for Cordilleras Heights.
Much of the east side and a portion of the north side of Central Park is a 15-20 minute walk from downtown. At the intersection of Upton and Roosevelt on the north west side you have Summitt Coffee, Key Market, and a few other good spots as well. The south side of Central Park has plenty of options around Woodside Road too.
The north side of Horgan Ranch is close to the shops and restaurants on Woodside Road. Options there include the Woodside Deli, The Saddle Room, a frozen yogurt spot, a taqueria, and a family-owned pizza place.
The south side of Dumbarton, near Marsh Road, has lots of good options at the Marsh Manor Shopping Center including Freewheel Brewery, Starbucks, a taqueria, an ice cream shop, and a yoga studio.
