A strong job market, optimism and a short supply of homes underlie a record stretch of high home prices in the Bay Area, according to the research firm CoreLogic. The highest increase in home prices was 4.4 percent in San Mateo County, followed by 2.9 percent in San Francisco. The median price in San Francisco is $1,170,000 and in San Mateo County is $1,070,000, the highest prices in the Bay Area.

Homeowners in the Bay Area love their homes! According to Home Advisor's "Happy Home" rating of U.S. cities, the San Francisco metro area ranks #1 as the happiest homeowners. According to the report, 77 percent of homeowners said they “have access to shopping that meets their needs,” 70 percent said “I trust my neighbors” and 73 percent said that “my home makes me proud.”
