Remodeling: Our Master Bathroom

Over the last several months, Cliff and I have been hard at work remodeling our own house (lots more to share on that soon!)

So to kick things off, we’re going to share some photos of the space in it’s current state and some inspiration images for our Master Bathroom. So far we’ve framed everything in and have fresh drywall up. There is currently an entire crew sanding and finishing the walls as I’m typing this!

The Space —

As part of our addition, we added a master bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Here are some photos of the master bath progress over the last couple weeks. We went from finishing framing and adding new plumbing to installing drywall and getting ready for tile! To give you an idea of the layout, when you walk into the bathroom there will be a double sink vanity with one long mirror. Over in the bay window, we’re going to install a freestanding tub. And then opposite from that we’ll have a 4x4’ shower and a separate water closet for the toilet.

The Inspiration —

We want this to be a pretty, yet casual, bathroom that’s both functional for Cliff and I to get ready in the mornings, as well as have some spaces to relax at the end of the day. We’re planning to do honed marble on the floors, shower, and vanity. The vanity will have two sinks with wall mounted faucets with a single mirror and sconces on either side. There’s a bay window in the kitchen that we repeated on the second floor and that nook will be home to a freestanding tub (so excited about this!) I’d like to add touches of brass and wood to warm things up, yet keep it simple.

Hopefully the tile will start to go in next week and we’ll share more about materials and specifics of our plans!
